Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with at least 2 years of experience for a 12-hour night shift travel assignment at a Level II Trauma facility serving a neonate-to-adult patient population.

Details

  • Position is in the Respiratory Care unit of a 341-bed Level II Trauma facility
  • Patient population spans neonates to adults (ages 0–100+)
  • Ventilators used include Puritan Bennett 980, 840, and LTV1200
  • Documentation system is Epic; Pyxis is used for medication management
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Schedule runs Monday through Sunday with no block scheduling
  • Every other weekend work is required
  • Holiday coverage is required
  • Floating to hospital floors is required; support in the nursery and ER may also be needed
  • Respiratory therapy coverage is available 24/7

Requirements

  • Current RRT credential required
  • Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
  • NRP certification required; neonatal/pediatric population experience or exposure required
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Epic experience within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
  • Flexible scheduling availability to meet department and patient care needs
  • NY license (with proof of pending) or VT license required if applicable
  • At least two professional references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor (one within the past 6 months, one within the past year) required for consideration
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Reliable personal or rental vehicle required — public transportation is not accessible in this area
  • Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November through April

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Pay rates are tiered based on distance from the facility: travel (101+ miles), radius (51–100 miles), and local (50 miles or less)
  • Orientation consists of 2 days
  • Scrub color required: black or ceil blue; closed-toe, non-skid shoes required
  • Jewelry should be minimal per hospital dress code policy; nails and hair must follow hospital dress code; beards must be groomed and candidates must be N95 mask-ready (no beard)
  • All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
  • No charge nurse role required

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish. Everything was explained clearly, and I always knew what the next step was, i never felt like i was left in the dark. One of my favorite things has been how communicative everyone is. Whether it’s my recruiter, Amanda, or Iranna from payroll, I always get a quick response when I have a question. It’s nice working with a team that actually follows up and keeps you in the loop. Amanda has been awesome throughout my assignment. She checks in regularly with a call or text just to see how things are going and make sure I don’t need anything.
