Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer for a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of acute care Echo experience and comfort scanning pediatric patients.
Details
- Noninvasive Cardiology department with 2 Echo suites and 2 TEE rooms, plus bedside scanning for inpatients
- Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
- Serves 40-60 patients per day, including pediatric and adult, inpatient and outpatient populations
- Supports a large structural heart program including pre/post Cath, CABG, Watchman, and TAVR patients
- Performs echo studies for CHF, PFOs, bubble studies, aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, stroke patients, ER patients, TEEs, and stress tests
- Uses EPIC EMR and Philips Cardiovascular/ISCV/Intellaspace PACS
- Equipment includes Philips and GE ultrasound systems
- 10-hour day shifts, 0800-1830, 40 hours per week
- No floating required
- Weekend rotation not required at this time
- 1 night call shift per week with 30-minute response time, EOS until 0700 the following morning
- On-call coverage required for up to 50% of major holidays per contract
Requirements
- BLS and ARDMS-RDS or RDCS certification required
- Active license required if applicable
- Minimum 2 years of acute care Echo experience required
- Must be comfortable performing pediatric echo scans
- Experience assisting with pericardiocentesis and other procedures, and measuring accurate EFs
- Fetal scan and stress test experience preferred
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Perform echocardiograms and provide preliminary findings in a modifiable report for physician review
- Support includes other Echo Techs, a Manager/Supervisor during the day, Central Transport, Cardiologists, and the Rapid Response/Code Team
- Orientation includes NEO, remainder of first week for unit orientation, and buddy call shadowing
- Preference given to candidates comfortable orienting new hires
- Modified self-scheduling in 6-week increments, subject to manager approval
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be approved
- Black scrubs required
- Free parking provided
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Local candidates accepted with no radius rule for GA facilities
- Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
