Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float pool PCU/Telemetry position requiring active Kansas and Missouri (or compact) licensure and a minimum of 2 years of recent specialty experience.

Details

• This is a float pool position — no home unit is assigned; the nurse will rotate between approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and may float to other metro campuses as needed
• Patient ratio is 1:5
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, with shifts falling on any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
• Charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit
• EMR: Epic (test-out option or module completion available)
• Equipment used includes Virtual Nurses, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, and Omnicell
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling is not available

Requirements

• Active Kansas and Missouri RN licenses, or a compact RN license, must be in hand prior to consideration — willingness to float between state lines is required
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/telemetry specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS
• Preferred certification: ACLS
• Required skills: cardiac telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry on-unit monitoring, pre/post cardiac cath care, and experience with conditions including sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, A-fib, GIB, stroke, and COVID
• Required work setting experience: MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, and Neuro Stepdown
• Preferred skills: sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, port access and management, blood product administration, and central line care and management
• Preferred: previous charge RN experience
• 2 professional references required — at least one must be supervisor level or above, and the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
• SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
• RTO is capped at 7 days and must be finalized at the time of submission; no additional RTO or schedule requests will be accommodated after submission
• Compliance modules (10–15 hours total) are required prior to start, due the Monday one week before the start date; Epic training should be completed first
• Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed by the Sunday prior to the start date
• Holiday shift coverage is required as assigned
• Nurses who have previously worked at BJC or Saint Luke's as permanent employees must wait 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler at any BJC facility
• Travelers who have previously held a contract with this health system must have an 18-month gap with a 3-month break in service before returning
• Candidates who cancel a signed contract to take another assignment within this health system will need to complete an assignment elsewhere before being eligible for a new opportunity here
