Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) night shift position requiring strong cardiac and post-op experience, Cerner proficiency, and an IN or Compact RN license.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting, with a patient population that includes post cardiac surgery and post vascular surgery patients
- Patient ratios of 1:3-5 based on acuity
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required; consecutive weekends may be needed based on operational needs
- Travelers may be expected to assume charge nurse responsibilities with provided training and resources
- Floating may be required to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) at both University and Methodist Hospital campuses — refusal to float may result in contract termination
- Cerner charting experience required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Minimum 18 months of RN experience
- Strong cardiac and post-op heart experience required
- Level I or Level II Trauma experience required
- Telemetry, IV start, and cardiac drip titration skills required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- RN degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required
- 2 supervisor references required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this position
- COVID vaccination is required; medical or religious exemptions are accepted with appropriate documentation
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
- Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within the IU Health system must take a consecutive break to reset travel eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break, and in-state residents require a 180-day break
