Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Intermediate Care position requiring Cerner experience, ACLS, and a valid MI RN license.

Details

  • 22-bed Stepdown/Intermediate Care Unit (PCU/IMC) in a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes telemetry, neuro stepdown, cardiac, and MS/Tele cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (0700–1930)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every other holiday required
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals based on volume and census
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Charting via Cerner Powerchart (experience required)
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active MI RN license required (pending licensure may be considered)
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • Preferred certification: CPI
  • Minimum 2 years of stepdown or telemetry RN experience preferred
  • Cerner Powerchart charting experience required
  • Core required skills: IV therapy, peripheral line care/management, interpretation of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, heparin protocols, management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration required), use of rapid response/code teams, isolation precautions/PPE, feeding tube care, and renal failure management
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this position

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have been gone for at least 3 years before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates (within 50 miles) are not accepted
  • Caribbean Blue scrubs required
  • Travelers are expected to complete up to 8 hours of pre-start online modules, typically within 1 week of signing
  • Maximum RTO of 10 days for the contract duration; if RTO falls during holidays, travelers must be available to work at least 1 of the 3 holidays
  • All required certifications must be obtained prior to start; pending certifications may be accepted
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
  • All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application
  • Professional conduct is taken very seriously at this facility; conduct issues or excessive call-offs may result in immediate contract termination

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish.
