Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Intermediate Care position requiring Cerner experience, ACLS, and a valid MI RN license.
Details
- 22-bed Stepdown/Intermediate Care Unit (PCU/IMC) in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes telemetry, neuro stepdown, cardiac, and MS/Tele cases
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (0700–1930)
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals based on volume and census
- No on-call responsibilities
- Charting via Cerner Powerchart (experience required)
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active MI RN license required (pending licensure may be considered)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Preferred certification: CPI
- Minimum 2 years of stepdown or telemetry RN experience preferred
- Cerner Powerchart charting experience required
- Core required skills: IV therapy, peripheral line care/management, interpretation of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, heparin protocols, management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration required), use of rapid response/code teams, isolation precautions/PPE, feeding tube care, and renal failure management
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this position
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have been gone for at least 3 years before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates (within 50 miles) are not accepted
- Caribbean Blue scrubs required
- Travelers are expected to complete up to 8 hours of pre-start online modules, typically within 1 week of signing
- Maximum RTO of 10 days for the contract duration; if RTO falls during holidays, travelers must be available to work at least 1 of the 3 holidays
- All required certifications must be obtained prior to start; pending certifications may be accepted
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
- All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application
- Professional conduct is taken very seriously at this facility; conduct issues or excessive call-offs may result in immediate contract termination
