Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Step-Down/Telemetry position at an Ohio hospital, requiring Epic proficiency, stable chronic ventilator experience, and night shift availability every other weekend.
Details
- Step-down unit within a large inpatient hospital setting
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- 36- or 48-hour workweek options available
- Target patient ratio is 1:4, though ratios may reach 1:5–6
- Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, neuro step-down, PCU/stepdown, MS/Tele, and neurological/psychiatric cases
- Common procedures and skills include: central line care, PICC line management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy care, chest tube management, ABG interpretation, heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management (titration preferred), PCA, pre/post hemodialysis management, IV insulin protocols, wound care/wound vac, and feeding tube management
- Epic EMR experience is required
- Travelers are the first to float, within the same hospital or to nearby Premier Health campuses (within 10–15 miles), and will receive a medically appropriate assignment or support the nursing care team of the floated unit
- Every other weekend and holiday availability is required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active OH RN license or compact RN license required; candidates with any past license disciplinary action will not be considered
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required
- Must pass an online EKG/dysrhythmia competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
- Minimum 1.5–2 years of RN experience required
- Experience with stable chronic ventilators required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- IV start/IV therapy experience preferred; port access/management preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Provide step-down nursing care to a diverse patient population including cardiac, neuro, and general medical-surgical telemetry patients
- Responsibilities include dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, use of rapid response/code teams, isolation precautions/PPE, and management of complex drip therapies
- Candidates who previously worked at Premier Health Partners as permanent or PRN staff, or prior agency travelers not extended due to tenure, must wait 6 months before applying; facility rehire approval is required before an offer can be extended
- RTO must be requested at the time of initial application; no RTO will be added after an offer is made, and approval is at the manager's discretion
- Maximum of 14 days of RTO allowed per contract
- Up to 24 hours of paid orientation modules are included
- Local candidates (within 50 miles of the facility) are not accepted for this position
