Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at an acute care community hospital in Woodland, CA, requiring 2+ years of ED experience and active CA RN licensure.
Details
- 18-bed Emergency Department with 4 fast track beds at an acute care community hospital
- General community hospital ED patient population including chest pain/r/o MI, exacerbation of chronic diseases, and psych holds; major trauma cases are transported to higher-level facilities
- Behavioral health patients are managed by dedicated mental health nurses
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Agency RNs are not assigned triage duties
- Telemetry monitoring is required; must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
- EMR: Cerner
- 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend required
- Travelers are first to float; floating may occur to other Sacramento-area facilities, with mid-shift float being rare but possible
- Block scheduling is generally not available; self-scheduling is used and finalized by the manager on a 4-week rolling schedule
- Holiday rotation with core staff required
- Charge nurse is on the floor and generally does not take patients but provides break relief
- Nurse aides are available based on census and staffing
- RT and pharmacy support available 24/7
- No dedicated IV team
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses will not be accepted
- Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS — pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- ED/ER nursing experience required
- Cerner EMR experience
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked (charge nurse references accepted); references must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Valid driver's license required
Additional Information
- Orientation consists of 1–2 days on the floor with a preceptor; bedside report is used
- A Relias Dysrhythmia exam (pass/fail) must be completed and passed prior to offer confirmation; candidates have two attempts
- A pass/fail sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is administered on the first day of orientation
- Candidates who have been directly employed (FT, PT, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Scrub color requirement: navy; undershirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets are optional but must be navy if worn
- Ventilator cases are not common in this unit
- Hospitalist and intensivist are in-house
