Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU night shift position requiring prior travel experience and strong neurological critical care skills.
Details
- Neuro Intensive Care Unit setting within a teaching hospital
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30), 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday nights)
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Uses Epic EMR
- Utilizes ventilators, intracranial pressure monitoring, and telemetry equipment
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with strong Neuro ICU background preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Skilled in IV starts, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
- Proficient in neurological care including CVA/stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care, and traumatic brain and spinal cord injury management
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
- Experience with continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- IV insulin protocol experience required
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to complex neurological and neurosurgical patients
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
- Candidates located outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location shortly after booking
- Candidates at extreme distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet to complete urgently
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
- Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions
- Requested time off must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- First-time travelers will be considered but should be screened for readiness
