Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 3 Trauma facility in Milledgeville, GA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Med/Tele experience and a GA or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a 24-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit (4 Park Tower) at a 140-bed hospital with a Level 3 Trauma designation
- Patient population includes adults with acute or chronic illness, post-op surgery patients, and common co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, CHF, infections, and electrolyte imbalances
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6, supported by LPNs and CNAs on each shift
- CNAs assist with vital signs, glucose checks, bathing, feeding, ambulation, hourly rounding, and patient transport
- Unit secretary, charge nurse, hospitalist, intensivist, and RT available 24/7
- Central Telemetry Unit provides cardiac monitoring support; nurses draw from CVLs while most labs are collected by phlebotomy
- EMR: Epic; IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
- Unit equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors, Glucommander, Dynamap portable monitors, bladder scanners, PCA pain management, and portable oxygen systems
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation of 5–6 shifts per 6-week schedule
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to adult Med/Surg and telemetry units, as well as SNF and ER for Med/Surg holds
Requirements
- Active RN license — GA or compact license required
- Current BLS and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) certifications required
- ACLS preferred but not required
- Medical-surgical national certification preferred but not required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, Glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, and drips titrated to HR
- Experience with IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring, and telemetry interpretation
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, wound care, post-op monitoring, care coordination with interdisciplinary teams, discharge planning, and patient education
- 3-day orientation: 1 day facility-wide with educational modules, followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required — one shift per major holiday: Thanksgiving Day or the day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1
- RTO requests require manager approval
- RN scrub color: Navy

- Candidates who have previously held a permanent position at an Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
