Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, Epic proficiency, and a GA or Compact RN license.

Details

• Primarily a Neuro/Surgical ICU unit with overflow medical ICU patients
• Adult to geriatric patient population
• Patient ratio of 1:2–3 on a 15-bed unit with an average daily census of 10
• Uses Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication framework
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
• RTO blackout period applies during Spring Break (April 4–12)

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Epic experience required
• Proficiency with IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care/management, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Respiratory skills required: ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, and chest tube assist
• Cardiac skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Neurological skills required: CVA/acute stroke management and EVD management
• Additional required skills: CVVHD/CRRT, continuous IV sedation, IV insulin protocols, and GI surgery patient care
• Two supervisory references (manager level or above) strongly preferred at time of consideration — charge nurse references not accepted
• Copies of all required certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO must be finalized prior to offer; no RTO or schedule requests will be accepted after offer or once onsite
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• If 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them — no holiday RTO will be approved
• If 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work 2 of them — one holiday RTO request may be considered for approval
• Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Candidates who have worked at or been employed by this health system (permanent, per diem, or float pool) must have been away from all system facilities for a full year before being considered as a traveler
• Travelers previously unable to return to one facility within the system must complete one successful assignment outside the system before being considered at another system location
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Travel pairs will not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
• No alternate shift or schedule change requests are permitted — the posted night shift is firm
