Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a GI/Endoscopy position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Works in the prep/recovery (pre-op and post-op) area of a busy GI lab within a short-term acute care hospital
• Patient volume averages 60 patients per day
• Day shift schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM (5x8s)
• No call, weekend, or holiday requirements, though occasional late shifts may be needed
• Travelers float within the GI service line
• EMR: Epic (experience required)

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license required (compact license must match permanent residence)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience in pre- and post-procedure recovery of GI patients required
• Proficiency in starting and maintaining IVs required
• Experience recovering patients from monitored anesthesia care (MAC) sedation required
• Procedure monitoring experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required — first-time travelers will not be considered
• Outpatient endoscopy center and pre/post procedure experience preferred
• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias

Additional Information

• Primary responsibilities include pre- and post-procedure nursing care, patient education on GI procedures, and recovery of patients following monitored anesthesia
• PACU and ED nursing backgrounds are well-suited for this role
• The facility is a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible — no local candidates accepted
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
• All RTO requests must be finalized prior to acceptance of the position — no additional RTO will be approved after that point
• Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
• Current permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before working at any BJC facility as a traveler
• Pre-start orientation modules are required and must be completed prior to the start date
• Fit testing is required; travelers must have facial hair that allows for a proper respirator fit or will be expected to shave — no exceptions
• Parking passes are available for purchase on a monthly basis; travelers should contact facility Public Safety for options and availability
