Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 12-week night shift travel assignment at a community hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience across adult critical care, ED, and neonatal settings.
Details
- Work setting includes Adult Critical Care, Emergency Department, NICU (preferred), and Pediatric Critical Care (preferred)
- Responsibilities span cardiopulmonary evaluation and treatment, ventilatory support, and airway management across ICU/CCU, ED, PACU, and Level III nursery
- Respiratory Care Practitioners attend all high-risk C-sections, high-risk deliveries, and patient resuscitations to manage airways and provide ventilatory support
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call required
- Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- Epic EMR (preferred)
- GE Carescape R860 ventilator experience preferred
Requirements
- RRT credential required; CRT not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Active professional licensure required at time of consideration; GA or Compact license required if applicable
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, RRT
- Preferred certifications: NRP
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Proficiency in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, high-pressure alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Experience with airway management including intubation assist, extubation, tracheostomy care, and suctioning
- Skilled in medication delivery systems including aerosol masks, MDIs, and nebulizers, and administration of respiratory medications such as albuterol, Atrovent, nitric oxide, and others
- Ability to interpret Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
- Copies of all certifications listed in the position description required for consideration
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- Former permanent, per diem, or FCSS employees must have been away from all system facilities for a full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who previously canceled or received a facility DNR must complete one assignment outside of this health system before reapplying
- All RTO must be finalized prior to consideration; RTO cannot be requested post-offer or once on-site
- Maximum of 7 days of RTO per contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- Holiday coverage is required: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO allowed; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work 2 of them and 1 holiday RTO request may be considered
- Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Full compliance with onboarding requirements must be completed on time; non-compliance may result in a 2-week start date delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
- No alternate shifts or special schedule requests are permitted; the posted shift is firm
