Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level III/IV NICU night shift position requiring a minimum of 3 years of NICU experience and an active WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Large 77-bed Level III/IV NICU in a hospital setting, with an average census of 50 patients
  • Cares for neonates as young as 23–24 weeks gestation
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Procedures and equipment include: CPAP/BiPAP, High Frequency Ventilators, Oscillators, conventional vents, blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, feeding tubes, PICC/central lines, and syringe pumps
  • Attends high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries
  • No ECMO performed on this unit
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Block scheduling is available and supported
  • Floating to other campuses (Issaquah or Edmonds SCN) or Pediatrics/Newborn Nursery (infants only) is possible but rare given high NICU staffing needs
  • Epic EMR — experience required
  • Travelers are not typically responsible for admissions, as the unit has a dedicated Admit Nurse

Requirements

  • Active WA state or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 3 years of Level III NICU experience, or 2 years of Level IV NICU experience
  • Proficiency with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP) required
  • Skills required include: IV therapy, blood and blood product administration, central line/implanted line care, feeding management (bottle, breast, gavage), NG/NJ tube placement and management, neonatal dosage calculations, and emergency medication administration
  • Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required for consideration
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Prior permanent employees of any Providence-affiliated facility must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months before being eligible, and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • All travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state — refusal to float may result in assignment termination
  • RTO is expected to be minimal for this position
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply — prior travel experience is not required

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish.
