Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a 13-week travel contract in Seattle, WA, requiring a minimum of 3 years of Level III or IV NICU experience and proficiency with advanced neonatal respiratory support equipment.
Details
- Level III and IV NICU setting with 77 beds and an average daily census of 50
- Cares for neonates as young as 23–24 weeks gestation
- Performs or assists with high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries
- Skilled in CPAP/BiPAP, high-frequency ventilators, oscillators, and conventional vents (no ECMO)
- Additional procedures include blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, feeding tubes, PICC/central lines, and syringe pumps
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
- Block scheduling is available for candidates who prefer to work 3 or more shifts consecutively
- Epic EMR (required)
- Floating between campuses within the state is expected; rare float to Issaquah or Edmonds Special Care Nursery or Pediatrics/Newborn Nursery (infants only if floated to Peds)
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of NICU experience; Level III NICU experience for at least 3 years, or Level IV NICU experience for at least 2 years
- Proficiency with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP)
- Experience with IV therapy, blood and blood product administration, and central/implanted line care
- Experience with neonatal dosage calculations and emergency medications
- Experience with feeding methods (bottle, breast, gavage) and placement/management of oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes
- Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket)
- Epic EMR experience required
- 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty are required for consideration
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Travelers are not typically assigned to admitting babies, as a dedicated Admit Nurse handles that role
- Travelers who float to Pediatrics will only be assigned to infant patients
- Floating between all facilities within the state is expected; refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment
- Former permanent employees of any Providence-affiliated facility must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility to be eligible
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Minimal RTO is strongly preferred for this position
