Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 3+ years of acute care experience for a 13-week day shift assignment at a Level II trauma center.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting with coverage across ICU, ED, and Med/Surg units, with NICU coverage for candidates with applicable experience
  • Level II trauma center with 3 ICUs
  • Respiratory therapy team typically staffed with 7–10 RTs depending on census
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Floating to other units may be requested based on facility needs
  • Epic EMR — experience required

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of acute care respiratory therapy experience
  • RRT credential required; CRT accepted
  • Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (must be AHA-issued), NRP (required if NICU experience), PALS (preferred if applicable)
  • Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
  • All specialty experience must be within the last year
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • First-time travelers will be considered
  • SSN and a copy of a valid driver's license required for consideration
  • One supervisory reference required for consideration
  • License required if applicable — VA license must be in hand or proof of compact license must be provided

Additional Information

  • Administer medications including albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Mucomyst, racemic epinephrine, and others as indicated
  • Perform and support ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, weaning from mechanical ventilation, and troubleshooting high-pressure alarms
  • Provide airway management including intubation support, extubation, tracheostomy care, suctioning, and nasal/oral airway placement
  • Administer high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), trach collar, and oxygen therapy
  • Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and perform nebulizer treatments and sputum specimen collection
  • Bronchoscopy assistance is a preferred skill
  • Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as permanent employees must have been separated for at least 6 months before being eligible to travel here
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • RTO should be kept to a minimum — no full calendar weeks off and no more than 7 days total; all RTO requests must be submitted upfront and no additional RTO will be approved after an offer is extended
  • All managers conduct a phone interview — be prepared to discuss the job description in detail
