Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a minimum of 2 years of experience for a night shift travel assignment at an acute care hospital in Augusta, GA, serving neonatal, adult, and geriatric patient populations.

• Acute care hospital setting with respiratory therapy services across adult critical care, emergency department, and NICU
• Patient population includes neonates, adults, and geriatrics
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:30–07:00
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the facility and scope of practice, with potential float to a sister campus approximately 3 miles away
• No on-call requirements
• Charting via Epic (required); Pyxis medication system also in use
• Pewter gray scrubs required

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required
• RRT credential required; CRT accepted only with 5+ years of experience and demonstrated critical care skills
• Active GA or Compact professional license required if applicable
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS; NRP preferred
• Proficiency in ABG interpretation, CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BiPAP, flow-by oxygen, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, weaning from mechanical ventilation, trach collar, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Epic EMR experience required
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
• Copies of all certifications listed in the position description required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include airway management, ventilator management, medication delivery (aerosol, MDI, nebulizer, inhaled medications), oxygen therapy, and tracheostomy care across multiple patient populations
• Advanced procedures include bronchoscopy support, extubation, nasal/oral airway placement, sputum collection, and HFNC management
• Neonatal/pediatric equipment experience includes oscillating ventilators, high-frequency jet ventilators, and CPAP/BiPAP
• Holiday coverage is required: travelers must work all holidays falling within their assignment if 1–2 occur; if 3 occur, travelers are expected to work 2, with 1 holiday RTO request eligible for review
• RTO blackout period applies during Spring Break (April 4–12); RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• Maximum 7 days of RTO per contract; all RTO must be finalized prior to or at time of consideration — no RTO or schedule changes are permitted post-offer or once onsite
• No alternate shift or schedule requests will be accommodated; the posted night shift is firm
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Former permanent, per diem, or flex staff employees must have been separated from all system facilities for a full year before being eligible to apply as a traveler
• Travelers who previously canceled or received a facility DNR must complete one assignment outside of the health system before reapplying
