Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a CVICU position requiring at least 1 year of dedicated CVICU experience and Ohio or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a hospital setting
- Unit typically runs 1:2 patient ratios in a 36-bed unit
- Care for patients requiring Impella support, post cardiac surgery (direct and non-direct from OR), pre/post cardiac cath or intervention, and pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- Utilizes thermodilution PA catheter monitoring, A-lines, ventilators, drips, sheaths, and dialysis
- Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
- 36- or 48-hour shift options available
- Requires floating within the hospital or to nearby Premier Health facilities based on skill set and census needs
- Must be available to work every other weekend and every other holiday
Requirements
- Active Ohio (OH) or compact RN license accepted (does not need to be in hand at signing)
- Minimum 1 year of dedicated CVICU staff experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG/dysrhythmia strips
- Must pass an online EKG/tele competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with A-lines, ventilators, drips, sheaths, dialysis, and ABG draws required
- Travel experience preferred but not required
- No history of license disciplinary action allowed
Additional Information
- Provide direct bedside care for critically ill cardiovascular patients including those on Impella support, post cardiac surgery, and cardiac catheterization procedures
- Manage IV therapy, central and PICC lines, arterial lines, and blood product administration
- Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips and manage continuous IV sedation
- Care for ventilated patients including BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, and suctioning
- Monitor and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction
- Navy blue scrubs required for this unit
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius
- Maximum RTO of 14 days per contract, must be requested at time of submission with no changes after an offer is made
- Previous PERM/PRN or agency staff not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying as a traveler, pending facility rehire approval
- Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census
- Travelers are not eligible for standard employee incentives
