Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and a NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Medical/Surgical Overflow unit within a Level 3 Trauma hospital setting
- Patient population includes chronic disease management, CHF, mental health, addiction services requiring IV antibiotic therapy, COPD, diabetes, wound care, and geriatric care
- Average daily census of 51 patients
- RN to patient ratio of 1:4-6, acuity dependent, with potential surges up to 1:7-8
- EPIC EMR system used
- 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH peds) based on staffing needs
- Travel nurses prioritized for floating assignments across nursing units within scope of practice
- 6-week schedule cycles
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
- Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
- Experience with tube/drain care, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position there
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive medical/surgical and telemetry nursing care within a supportive care team including Nurse Manager, Clinical Supervisors, staff RNs, CNAs, Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, and House Supervisor
- Utilize department equipment including scales, GBS machine, transfer devices, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, doppler, language interpreter services, and tele-medicine cart for remote patient assessments
- Facility is a Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Free parking available
- Department culture emphasizes teamwork and accountability
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel position
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Clinical interview required prior to placement
