Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Long Term Acute Care position in a Complex Medical Unit (CMU) specializing in medically complex rehabilitation with cardiac monitoring, requiring 12-hour night shifts and prior experience with respiratory/vented patients.

Details

• Works in a Complex Medical Unit (CMU) focused on medically complex rehabilitation with cardiac monitoring — not a traditional Med/Surg environment
• Primary patient population includes LVAD, CVA, ABI, SCI, wounds, CAPD, and ventilator-dependent patients
• Patient ratios: 1:7 on day/evening shifts, 1:9 on nights
• Schedule: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 36 hours/week
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required between acute care sister units (MRU and CMU); on a 12-hour shift, a nurse may spend 4 hours on one unit and 8 hours on another
• Nurses are responsible for IV starts, drips, blood administration, EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight cath, foley care, port access, central line dressings, and wound measurements
• Nurses do not manage ventilators — respiratory therapists (RTs) handle vent management

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1–2 years of RN experience required
• Experience with respiratory/ventilator-dependent patients strongly preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
