Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with adult critical care and trauma ED experience for a 13-week night shift travel assignment in Saint Louis, MO.
Details
- Work in a respiratory therapy department at a 767-licensed-bed hospital serving a diverse patient population across all areas of the facility
- Patient population includes respiratory patients in the SICU, CCU, CVICU, ED, Neuro, and Trauma units
- Pediatric patients are stabilized in the ED and transferred to a sister facility
- Patient ratios are based on a point system and dependent on staffing levels
- Equipment includes Avea ventilators, LTV transport ventilators, V60 BiPAP, Bellavista (incoming), Vapotherm, and Airvo for high-flow therapy
- EMR: Epic
- Night shift schedule: 3x12, 18:30–07:00
- Weekends, floating, and on-call as required by the facility
- 13-week assignment in Saint Louis, MO
Requirements
- Active RRT license with the Missouri Board for Respiratory Care (license required if applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) required; no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documented renewal is scheduled
- PALS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent respiratory therapy experience
- Adult critical care experience required
- High-volume, busy ED with trauma experience required
- Blood gas draw, processing on GEM, and blood gas interpretation preferred
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs are not accepted
- No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory therapy services across multiple care areas including critical care, cardiovascular, neurological, and trauma units
- Ideal candidate is a confident therapist with strong time management skills and a collaborative approach to patient care
- Facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center (the only one in South County), a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and a Level 1 STEMI Center
- Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Black scrubs required; Mercy standard scrub guidelines apply
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
- Local candidates (within 50 miles of the facility) are accepted; candidates living within 50 miles are subject to a reduced bill rate and are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts at the facility before a separation period or relocation is required
