Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with at least 6 months of experience for a 12-week inpatient/outpatient contract at a critical access hospital in Texas, treating a diverse caseload including SNF, acute, and outpatient patients.

Details

  • Critical access hospital setting with 25 beds, serving inpatient (acute, observation, skilled nursing) and outpatient populations under one hospital license
  • Unit covers IP and OP; therapists float between inpatient and outpatient as needed
  • Common diagnoses include general SNF, wounds, ortho (fractures, sports injuries), neuro, debility, amputations, neck pain, and wound care/VAC patients; no acutely ill patients at this campus
  • Target productivity of 24 units per 8-hour day, with approximately 7 treatment hours daily across IP/OP combined
  • Charting system: MEDITECH
  • Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; no weekends and no on-call
  • Holiday coverage is rotational and may be required; details discussed during interview

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of physical therapy experience required; new graduates with at least 6 months of experience will be considered
  • IP/OP experience required; wound care experience preferred but not required
  • Active Texas PT license required (pending licenses not accepted); license required if applicable
  • Active BLS certification required (pending certifications not accepted)
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include evaluation, development of individualized treatment plans and goals, discharge planning, treatment implementation, and reassessment of outcomes
  • PT may be asked to precept other staff as needed
  • The unit is supported by 2 full-time staff PTs who will assist with cases outside the traveler's experience; specialized cases are referred to a sister facility
  • One part-time rehab aide is available on-site
  • Orientation includes Pathways Learning modules assigned during onboarding, along with on-site education and shadowing for site and documentation orientation (12 orientation hours total)
  • Maroon scrubs required; not provided by the facility
  • Consistent attendance is strongly expected; call-outs could result in termination
  • Open to first-time travelers with at least 6 months of experience
