Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position in Alabama, working night shifts with floating and occasional charge responsibilities.

Details

• Medical/Surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 7p-7a (4x12 or 3x12 hours)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Charge nurse responsibilities on an as-needed basis
• Weekend block scheduling may be considered

Requirements

• Active AL RN license or compact license accepted; pending license considered
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Current fit test required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Proficiency in IV starts, isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac required
• Level II trauma experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are eligible to apply but will be considered at a local pay rate
• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel assignment
• RTO requests are limited to a maximum of 7 days for the duration of the contract
• Hospital housing is available and is the recommended option given the remote location — shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces; male or female units only; no dogs permitted; travelers coordinate housing directly with the facility
• A 30-minute meal break is required each shift — skipped meals are not permitted
