Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with pediatric and neonatal experience for a day shift travel assignment at a medical center in Carlsbad, NM.

  • 13-week travel assignment at a medical center in Carlsbad, NM
  • Respiratory Therapy department serving both inpatient and outpatient populations, including pediatric and neonatal patients
  • Day shift, 5:30 AM–6:00 PM on a rotating schedule
  • Uses MedHost EMR
  • No floating required
  • No on-call required

Requirements

  • Current RRT credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience
  • Pediatric and neonatal experience required
  • Current NRP certification required — candidates willing to obtain NRP before or immediately after start date will be considered
  • Current certifications: ACLS and BLS
  • Active New Mexico (NM) state license required if applicable
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include administering oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and ventilator management while monitoring patient responses
  • Performs and documents ABG punctures and reports results promptly
  • Assists physicians with invasive and non-invasive procedures, including intubations, arterial line insertions, and pulmonary function studies
  • Manages airway maintenance, ventilator settings, and delivery of medicated aerosols via medical compressed gas
  • Conducts cardiac and pulmonary stress tests as part of comprehensive cardiopulmonary services
  • All certifications must remain active through at least the first 30 days of the assignment
  • Candidates may not have worked at any CHS facility as permanent staff within the past 2 years
  • RTO requests must be less than one week in duration
  • Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated
  • Scrubs: any color
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Very travelers friendly, block scheduling offered, med host EMR, easy low acuity patients

Cons

Oil field so renting or hotel rooms are expensive. Patient population is a lot of drug and alcohol withdrawal patients. Minimal drops minimal vents.

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish.
