Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at an academic medical center in Sacramento, CA, requiring a valid CA RN license and prior travel experience.
Details
- PACU setting within an inpatient and outpatient hospital environment
- Supports recovery services for OR, Cath Lab, IR, Endoscopy, and Cardiac (excluding open heart) procedures
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 9:30 AM – 10:00 PM
- Floating to the ICU may be required
- Epic EMR experience required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA or ARC accepted)
- Minimum 3 years of PACU nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
- Proficiency with arterial line management, IV vasopressors, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, chest tube management, airway assessment, and ABG interpretation
- Experience with a broad range of surgical cases including neuro, ortho, cardiac, bariatric, vascular, and pediatric patients
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include Phase I and Phase II recovery care, pain assessment and management, PCA pump management, and administration of reversal agents, antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, and emergency medications
- Experience with neurological monitoring (ICP, EVD), ventilated patient care, and post-anesthesia management across multiple anesthesia types (general, spinal, MAC, nerve blocks, conscious sedation) is expected
- Charge nurse experience is preferred
- Community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I or II experience are preferred
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
- Former employees may return without a separation period; former manager's name must be provided on the application
- Maximum of 7 days of RTO per contract; only 1 holiday per contract may be requested
- Holidays with coverage expectations: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day (holiday periods begin at 7:00 PM the night before and end at 7:00 AM the day after)
- A 7-year work history verification is required for all candidates
