Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a travel contract in New Jersey, requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
- Level II and Level III NICU setting within a hospital environment
- Neonatal patient population ranging from less than 24 weeks to greater than 34 weeks gestation
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Float to Baby Nurse position as needed
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NJ RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS and NRP or NRP Advanced required; STABLE preferred
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency in neonatal skills including IV therapy, arterial line management, UAC/UVC management, central line care, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), Bubble CPAP, HFNC, chest tube management, and ETT/NT suctioning
- Experience with neonatal medications including anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, steroids, surfactants, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Skills in APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, developmental care, phlebotomy, phototherapy, and breastfeeding support
- Experience with neonatal conditions including respiratory distress syndrome, meconium aspiration, neonatal sepsis, neonatal abstinence syndrome, seizure disorders, and hyperbilirubinemia
- Ability to attend high-risk deliveries
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Travel pairs or groups will not be considered for this position
- Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
- RTO must be disclosed at the time of consideration; no RTO will be approved during the first week of orientation, and no more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved
- Onboarding modules are completed onsite during orientation and average 4–6 hours for RN candidates
