Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele (Neuro Stepdown) position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of experience and a valid TX or compact RN license.

Details

  • Short-term acute care hospital setting with 379 staffed beds, designated as a Level II Trauma Center
  • MS/Tele unit with a Neuro Stepdown focus
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
  • 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
  • Floating between units and sister facilities within the state is expected; refusal to float may result in termination of assignment
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Key skills include telemetry monitoring, cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, respiratory management, and neurological/psychiatric care (e.g., CVA, seizure disorders, intracranial bleeds, post-TPA care, pre/post neurosurgery)

Requirements

  • Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Tele or Neuro Stepdown RN experience
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and neurological patient populations required
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Level II Trauma experience preferred
  • 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required prior to start
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility (permanent, travel, or per-diem), including location and dates

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers and candidates with 1 year of experience are welcome to apply
  • Solid navy blue scrubs required for licensed nursing personnel; print tops are not acceptable
  • Must commit to working 3 of the following 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
  • All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO may not be approved
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted but may be subject to a lower pay rate
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler, and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Candidates may not be currently submitted to more than one Providence facility at a time
  • Free surface parking is available on-site in designated employee/visitor lots

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish.
