Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU (MICU) position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 1.5 years of ICU experience and a MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical ICU (MICU) setting within a large, short-term acute care hospital (1,266 staffed beds) designated as a Magnet facility, teaching hospital, and Level I Trauma Center
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (19:00–07:30)
• Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the ICU service line, including to medical-surgical areas within the ICU service line
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR experience required
• Block scheduling is not available
• Common procedures include pressor support, ETT, trachs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, wound care, sterile technique for line insertion, paracentesis, bedside trach placement, bronchoscopy, and phlebotomy
• Preferred experience includes CRRT, Swan-Ganz monitoring, inhaled and IV Flolan, CVVHD, proning, and MTP/Level 1 Rapid Transfuser

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license (compact license must match permanent residence)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• BSN and CCRN preferred
• Minimum of 1.5 years of ICU experience required; MICU experience preferred
• Candidates with fewer than 2 years of total ICU experience must have Level I MICU experience
• Experience in a 20+ bed ICU is required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must pass a Relias EKG exam; interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Required skills include: arterial line management, central line care/management, ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, blood product administration, titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, ABG interpretation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Preferred skills include: CVVHD/CRRT (specifically NxStage), Swan-Ganz/pulmonary artery line monitoring, continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, and hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Facial hair must allow for proper fit testing; no exceptions

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates who have been permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
• Pre-start online modules are required and must be completed before the start date
