Description

American Traveler is hiring an Echo Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer with a minimum of 1 year of pediatric cardiac echo experience for a 13-week travel assignment at a children's hospital in Orange County, CA.

Details

  • Inpatient and outpatient pediatric cardiac echo unit at a children's hospital
  • Pediatric patient population, including complex congenital anomalies and post-surgical repairs
  • Daily caseload of 4–5 studies per session
  • Procedures include 2-D Echo, Color Doppler, Pulsed Wave Doppler, Continuous Wave Doppler, M-Mode, TEE, portable studies, bubble studies, and scanning of complex anomalies and post-surgical repairs
  • Pediatric anomalies include aortic arch abnormalities, coarctation of the aorta, coronary artery anomalies, double outlet ventricle, hypoplastic heart syndrome, pulmonary venous return anomalies, Tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of the great vessels, tricuspid and pulmonary atresia, and RVIT/RVOT assessment
  • Equipment includes GE, Philips, and Siemens echo systems, as well as PACS
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred
  • 5x8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
  • Travelers are first to float per facility policy

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of cardiac pediatric echo experience required; minimum 6 months of pediatric echocardiography experience required; 3 years of pediatric cardiac echo experience preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited echocardiography training program or equivalent experience in pediatric or adult echocardiography
  • Required certifications: BLS and one of the following — ARDMS RDCS-PE, RDCS-Peds, CCI RCS, or CCI RCCS
  • Proficiency in pediatric echo and routine scanning required
  • Experience with procedures in ICU/ED settings and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Ability to obtain a 12-lead EKG/ECG
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • License required if applicable
  • Two supervisor-level references required, from the relevant unit, dated within 1 year of the start date or from most recent employer

Additional Information

  • Reports to the Clinic Manager as part of the patient care team responsible for cardiac echo studies on an inpatient and outpatient basis
  • First-time travelers will be considered with strong pediatric cardiac echo experience
  • Former staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered for travel positions
  • Candidates who live within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
  • Maximum of 7 days of RTO permitted; no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Up to 16 hours of onboarding modules may be required, completed during orientation
  • Clinicians previously designated as Do Not Rehire at affiliated Rady Children's Health facilities may not be considered; rehire eligibility for former travelers cancelled from a Rady's facility must be reviewed by facility leadership

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish.
