Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a MS/Tele position at a short-term acute care hospital in Portland, OR, requiring 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and an active OR RN license.

Details

  • Short-term acute care hospital setting with 418 staffed beds
  • MS/Tele unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
  • Patient population includes post-surgical (bariatric, plastics), renal, cardiac telemetry, and general medical-surgical cases
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required within the hospital and to affiliate facilities across the state of Oregon, including locations in Milwaukie, Newberg, Portland, Hood River, Willamette Falls, Seaside, and Saint Vincent
  • No on-call required
  • Charting system: Epic (required)
  • Free parking on-site

Requirements

  • Active Oregon (OR) RN license required; may be submitted with license pending
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele RN experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Required clinical skills include: IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, CBI, renal failure management, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (no titration), vasoactive drip management (no titration), HFNC, tracheostomy care, telemetry/dysrhythmia interpretation, wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, and isolation precautions/PPE
  • A personal vehicle is required for this assignment
  • 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required for consideration
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation, managing drips (non-titrating), tracheostomy care, wound vac management, early mobilization, and CHG bath protocols
  • Scrub color is open — any color is acceptable for this unit
  • Floating to affiliate facilities is a condition of the assignment; refusal to float may result in termination
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates; local candidates may be accepted at a different rate
  • Former permanent employees of a Providence facility must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
  • Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility (permanent, travel, or per-diem), including location and dates
  • Holiday coverage is required — candidates must commit to working 3 of the following 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
  • Up to 6 days RTO (or 3 consecutive days) may be considered; requests beyond 6 days may delay or impact the offer
  • All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be granted

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my first travel assignment. American Traveler has made the entire process feel easy from start to finish.
