Description
American Traveler is seeking an Echo Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer specializing in pediatrics, with a minimum of 1 year of cardiac pediatric echo experience, for a 13-week travel assignment at a children's hospital in Orange County, CA.

- Pediatric inpatient and outpatient cardiac echo unit at a children's hospital in Orange County, CA
- Patient population is exclusively pediatric, including complex congenital anomalies and post-surgical repairs
- Daily caseload of 4–5 studies per session
- 5x8-hour day shifts, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of cardiac pediatric echo experience; minimum 6 months of pediatric echocardiography experience specifically (3+ years preferred)
- Graduate of an accredited echocardiography training program or equivalent experience in pediatric or adult echocardiography
- Required certifications: BLS and one of the following — ARDMS RDCS PE, RDCS-Peds, CCI RCS, or CCI RCCS
- Proficiency in pediatric echo, 2-D echo, color Doppler, routine scanning, scanning complex anomalies, and scanning post-surgical repairs
- License required if applicable
- Two supervisor-level references from the relevant unit, dated within 1 year of start date or from most recent employer, are required for consideration
Additional Information
- Perform cardiac echo studies on pediatric inpatients and outpatients, reporting to the Clinic Manager as part of the patient care team
- Preferred skills include 3-D echo, continuous wave Doppler, pulsed wave Doppler, M-mode, portable studies, TEE, RVIT, RVOT, and imaging contrast
- Preferred anomaly experience includes Tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of the great vessels, hypoplastic heart syndrome, coarctation of the aorta, pulmonary venous return anomalies, double outlet ventricle, tricuspid and pulmonary atresia, coronary artery anomalies, aortic arch abnormalities/vascular ring, and bubble studies
- Preferred equipment experience includes GE, Philips, Siemens, and PACS
- Preferred professional skills include isolation precautions/PPE, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, and procedures on patients in ICU/ED settings
- Travelers are first to float per facility policy
- Up to 16 hours of orientation modules may be required
- First-time travelers will be considered with strong pediatric echo experience
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are considered local
- Maximum of 7 days of RTO permitted; no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
- Former staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered for travel positions
- Clinicians who are DNR from Rady Children's will not be considered; return CHOC travelers who were cancelled from Rady's require leadership review
