Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stroke/Neuro PCU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring EPIC proficiency and neuro PCU experience.

Details

• Work in a Stroke/Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a large acute care hospital with over 700 licensed beds, recognized as a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, and affiliated with a medical school
• Patient population includes hospitalist medicine, stroke, and neurology patients in a Joint Commission certified primary stroke center
• Typical patient ratio is 1:5 with a staffing goal of 1:4
• Shift: nights, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, 3x12s (4x12 available by request)
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• Remote telemetry monitoring with tele sitting implemented to increase Patient Care Tech coverage
• IV drips managed include Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose Dopamine/Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, and Ketamine (no titration required)
• Floating required within skillset, including PCU, IMC, and stepdown units
• EMR: Epic experience required
• One holiday shift required per 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active Virginia state or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Neuro PCU experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Experience administering cardiac drips (no titration)
• Respiratory support skills including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with isolation precautions and telemetry settings across PCU, IMC, and stepdown environments
• Epic EMR experience required
• Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
