Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of telemetry or med/surg telemetry experience and proficiency with cardiac drips.
Details
- Hospital-based Cardiac Telemetry unit
- Patient population includes chest pain, arrhythmias, pacemaker, and defibrillator cases; unit works with a heart failure navigator
- Patient ratio of 1:5–6
- Day shift, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM (3x12-hour shifts); 36 or 48 hours per week can be supported
- 13-week contract with potential for extension
- Floating required to other telemetry units
- 4 weekend days required per 6-week time track
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred); also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry or med/surg telemetry experience required (hard stop)
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with cardiac GTT and cardiac drips required, including Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Lasix, and Heparin
- Skills in IV therapy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, and cardiac monitoring and emergency response
- Ability to manage cardiac and vasoactive drips; titration experience preferred
- Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required prior to start
Additional Information
- 36 hours of on-unit orientation provided; orientation is conducted weekly
- Must pass an EKG test prior to start
- Pre-start online modules required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles); must be completed annually thereafter and accessed via Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge
- Navy scrubs required; not provided by the facility
- Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays; RTO is not permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved, excluding holidays; additional RTO requires facility approval and cannot be requested after signing
- Any previous permanent, PRN, or EP employee of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before being eligible to apply
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at a reduced rate
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travel pairs are permitted but must be assigned to different units and must have their own transportation
