Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, Epic proficiency, and remote telemetry monitoring experience.
Details
- Inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a community hospital setting
- Specialized patient population includes stroke (neuro/CVA) patients alongside a variety of medical patients with multiple co-morbidities
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required; holiday coverage as needed
- Floating is required — travelers may be floated to any facility within the Cone Health system
- Epic EMR experience required
- Remote telemetry monitoring experience required; on-unit telemetry monitoring preferred
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license currently in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Remote telemetry monitoring experience required
- Experience with feeding tube care and management required
- Experience with accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs required
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, nasal cannula, and CVA patient care required
- Dysrhythmia interpretation experience required
- Current driver's license required to verify address
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- All RNs must pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam during compliance; two attempts are allowed — candidates should prepare in advance as study materials are not provided by the facility
- Orientation includes non-billable unit-based modules averaging 2–4 hours
- Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with the initial application; no post-submission RTO will be accepted
- Third-party education verification is required; degrees from schools on the Florida Diploma Fraud Audit list will not be accepted
- No open background cases permitted
