Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a high-risk Labor & Delivery position at a Level 3 NICU teaching facility, requiring an active VA or Compact RN license and at least 1 year of L&D experience.
Details
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
- 13-week contract
- High-risk L&D unit with 16 labor rooms, 6 triage rooms, 6 antepartum rooms, and 3 ORs
- Level 3 NICU on site
- Teaching facility with resident coverage
- Patient population includes all OB patients >20 weeks with complex presentations including preeclampsia, GDM, PPROM, multiples, fetal anomalies, and cardiac defects
- Average daily census of 15 patients; nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
- Dedicated OR team during the day handles scheduled C-sections and most add-on cases; 24/7 in-house anesthesia available
- External cephalic versions (ECVs) performed during daytime hours
- No on-call required
- Self-scheduling
- Medication management via Omnicell
- Documentation via Epic (Stork/OB module) and OBTV
- Scrubs provided by the facility
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration — pending licenses will not be accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
- AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred but not required
- Minimum 1 year of L&D experience required; 3 years preferred
- Circulating skillset for C-sections required
- Experience in antepartum care and procedures, triage of OB patients, and labor and delivery management required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Epic experience required; number of months of Epic experience in the past year must be provided
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include labor and delivery management, antepartum care, OB triage, and circulating for C-sections
- All travelers must attend either an accelerated or 2-day Epic (Stork/OB) orientation class prior to starting; travelers returning within the past 6 months may be exempt
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); religious or medical exemptions must comply with CMS guidelines
- This is a smoke- and nicotine-free facility
- Previous employees of this health system must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- RTO must be submitted upfront; no RTO will be approved after an offer is made — keep requests to a minimum and expect to work some holidays
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
