Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Medical Intermediate (Stepdown) position in Saint Louis, MO, requiring at least 1 year of cardiac stepdown experience and night shift availability.
Details
- Inpatient cardiac medical intermediate (stepdown) unit in a hospital setting
- 32-bed unit serving post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomies, respiratory failure, and chest pain patients
- Patient ratio of 1:3 to 1:4
- Equipment used includes chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAPs
- EMR: Epic
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license in Missouri or a compact license that qualifies for Missouri licensure
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient cardiac stepdown experience required
- No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required
Additional Information
- Performs direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across all age groups
- Monitors and coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
- Physical demands include prolonged standing and walking, frequent bending and stooping, and lifting/turning patients with assistance; must be able to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs
- Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; candidates must be available the full orientation week
- Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) is required from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Scrub color: all black with Mercy logo on top; hoodies, non-logo jackets, t-shirts, open-toed shoes, earbuds, and fake nails are not permitted
- RTO of up to 5 days is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
- Only 1 holiday RTO request is permitted per assignment
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
- Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius
