Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring BLS certification, 2 years of experience, and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Work on a 36-bed telemetry/surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule with 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• 13-week assignment length
• Floating may be requested based on facility needs
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, NIHSS required; ACLS preferred, all AHA-approved
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Specialty experience within the last year required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, peripheral line care, oxygen administration, oral suctioning, CVA care, Heparin/Insulin/PCA medication management, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, wound care/wound vac, and pre/post hemodialysis management

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry and cardiac monitoring for med/surg patients on a combined surgical/telemetry unit
• NIH and stroke education required
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Prior permanent employees of the health system must have a 6-month gap before being eligible for travel assignments
• RTO requests should be minimal, ideally none for a full calendar week, with a maximum of 7 days total during the assignment
• All RTO requests must be submitted and approved prior to confirmation, with no additional requests approved after an offer is extended
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
