Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring a minimum of 3 years of NICU experience and WA or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Level III and Level IV NICU setting with an average census of 50 patients across 77 beds
- Patient population includes neonates as early as 23-24 weeks gestation
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- Procedures and equipment include CPAP/BiPAP, high-frequency ventilators, oscillators, conventional vents, blood/blood products administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, feeding tubes, PICC/central lines, and syringe pumps
- Travelers attend high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries
- Travelers are generally not responsible for admitting babies, as the unit has a dedicated Admit Nurse
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Block scheduling is available (3 or more consecutive shifts)
- Floating between campuses within the state is required; refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment
- When floating occurs, it is typically to a Sister Campus Nursery (SCN) or Pediatrics/Newborn Nursery, where travelers would only be assigned to infant patients
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or valid compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum of 3 years of NICU experience required; at least 3 years at Level III NICU or 2 years at Level IV NICU
- Proficiency in IV therapy, blood and blood product administration, central/implanted line care, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP) and therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket)
- Experience with feeding modalities including bottle, breast, and gavage feeding, as well as placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes
- Experience with neurologic and respiratory neonatal patient populations
- Epic EMR experience required
- 2 supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty are required for consideration
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent employees of any Providence-affiliated facility must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility to be eligible
- Minimal RTO is strongly preferred for this position
- 13-week contract
