Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring 2 years of experience, prior travel experience, and AHA BLS/ACLS certifications.
Details
- Phase I PACU setting within an inpatient hospital environment
- Day shift schedule, 4x10-hour shifts (8:00–18:00)
- 13-week contract
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- On-call required with rotating weekend and holiday call coverage
- Handles a wide range of surgical cases including General, ENT, Gyn, Neuro, Neuro/Spine, Ortho, Ortho/Total Joints, Plastics, Urology, Thoracic, and Robotics
- Performs or manages procedures including airway assessment, arterial line management, chest tube management, central line care, PICC line care, IV therapy, blood product administration, and procedural sedation monitoring
- Administers and monitors medications including antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and emergency medications
- Experience with various anesthesia types including general, spinal, epidural, conscious sedation, MAC, nerve blocks, and local
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
Requirements
- Active TN or compact RN license required
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only); PALS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of PACU nursing experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Two supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility's service area; local candidates are not accepted
Additional Information
- General orientation begins on Sundays with online computer-based learning (CBL) modules averaging 4–5 hours; orientation is non-billable
- Contract nurses are expected to actively support nursing student clinical education alongside their standard patient care responsibilities
- Drug test must be completed within 12–14 calendar days prior to the start date; candidates should have no prior engagements during this window and must be willing to return for a second lab visit if needed
- Fit testing is required; facial hair must be trimmed or removed per CDC guidelines — refusal may result in cancellation
- RTO requests must be submitted at the time of consideration
