Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical/Ortho/Trauma position at an academic medical center in St. Louis, MO, requiring at least 2 years of experience and a MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a 5S Med/Surg unit with an Ortho and Trauma focus at a 356-bed academic medical center and Level I/II trauma center affiliated with a major university school of medicine
- Patient population includes orthopedic, trauma, and general med/surg patients
- Patient ratio is 1:5
- Schedule options include 3x12 or 4x12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within scope to all hospital care areas, including the ED and ICU to care for admitted med/surg holds
- Epic EMR experience not required but strongly preferred
- Block scheduling may be considered at manager discretion
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BLS certification required; ACLS and CPI preferred
- Ortho, trauma, or med/surg nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with IV therapy, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs required
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include coordinating multidisciplinary resources, performing serial patient assessments, identifying and analyzing trends, prioritizing care, and thorough documentation of assessments, interventions, re-assessments, and communication with the trauma team
- The facility is a non-profit, research and academic medical center providing tertiary care for the east Missouri region
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Candidates residing within 70 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
- Travelers who have worked at this facility for 1 year must take a 6-month break before returning as a traveler
- All required compliance modules are completed prior to the start of the assignment
- Fit testing for respiratory mask is required; candidates must be clean-shaven for mask seal — no medical or religious exemptions are accepted
- RTO must be submitted with the initial application; RTO requests after confirmation are at manager discretion
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
