Description
American Traveler is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with acute care experience and bedside swallow evaluation skills for a 13-week travel assignment at a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma teaching hospital in Saint Cloud, MN.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting at a 479-bed Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma teaching facility
- SLP unit focused on acute care speech-language pathology services
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours (8:00–16:30)
- Every 5th weekend required, including both Saturday and Sunday
- 13-week contract
- Charting via Epic (experience preferred)
- Free parking available in the North Lot in any unrestricted space
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of acute care SLP experience required
- Experience with bedside swallow evaluations and treatments required
- Active Minnesota SLP license required; pending license not accepted — license required if applicable
- BLS certification required
- CCC-SLP certification required
- Video fluoroscopy swallow evaluation experience preferred
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Additional Information
- Performs bedside swallow evaluations and treatments as a core daily responsibility
- Conducts and interprets Modified Barium Swallow Studies (preferred skill)
- Works with adult patients presenting with dysphagia, dysarthria, CVA, TBI, degenerative diseases, nervous system disorders, tracheostomy, and ventilator-dependent conditions
- Utilizes augmentative and alternative communication devices and communication boards
- Provides patient and family education on therapy goals and care plans
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning, diet modification, and plan of care
- Travelers are required to work holidays as needed by the facility
- All RTO must be disclosed and finalized at time of submission; no RTO in the first week of the assignment and no more than 10 days RTO per assignment
- Candidates must live more than 25 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least 9 months before returning as a traveler
- All travelers must complete Minnesota Livescan fingerprinting in person within 48 hours of contract signing; this is a state requirement with no exceptions and travelers are responsible for all associated travel arrangements
- Required lab work must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
- Vaccine exemption documentation must be submitted with the candidate profile if requesting a medical or religious exemption
- Scrub color requirements are available in the facility profile

Management was great, not micromanaging. CNA ratio was amazing, and everyone was always helping each other out.
Cons
Lack of transporters, especially at night..there were none, but we had so many CNA’s to help, rotating schedules. Nights and days in the same week.
