Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Critical Care Unit (PCU) position in Albany, NY, requiring at least 2 years of PCU or ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Day shift position, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, in a Progressive Critical Care Unit (PCU)
• High-acuity medical and surgical patient population, including cases involving respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, complex traumas, and surgical complications
• Average patient load of 3 high-acuity patients
• Requires competency in advanced hemodynamics including pressor titration, antihypertensive drips, sedative and Narcan drips, thrombolytics, A-line, CVP, EVD, orthopedic traction, and infection prevention protocols
• Respiratory support equipment in use includes HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, and Oxypendent
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Every other weekend required
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in PCU or a closely related specialty
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications, issued by AHA or RQI
• Epic EMR proficiency required
• Competency in care of medical and surgical patient populations, including advanced hemodynamic management
• Candidates must have a valid US Social Security Number (no Canadian SINs accepted)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• Flu vaccination required; only medical exemptions signed by a licensed professional are accepted — personal or religious declinations will not be honored
• Nurses with large-scale adult PCU experience or community hospital ICU experience are strongly preferred

Additional Information

• Provide complex nursing care to medically delicate and surgically complex patients in a regional Progressive Critical Care Unit
• A competency test is required and will be sent to the candidate's email; must be completed within 24 hours of being sent, with 2 attempts allowed to pass
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates residing in the following counties are not eligible: Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Ulster, Warren, and Washington
• Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration
• No blocked scheduling
• Travel pairs are not permitted for this position
