Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Intermediate Care unit requiring PICU experience and prior travel assignment experience.
Details
- Position within the 3C Intermediate Care unit of a pediatric hospital, with potential floating to PICU, Burn PICU, or NICU as part of an ICU cluster
- ,
- Patient population includes respiratory distress, DKA, chronic vents, tracheostomies, and other diagnoses stepped down from PICU
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4 in IMCU
- CNA/PCT support available with 1-2 PCTs per shift
- Advanced practice providers, hospitalists (until 11PM), and residents provide medical coverage on the unit
- EMR is Epic, medication dispensing via Pyxis with barcode scanning
- 12-hour night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
- Schedule is manager/scheduler driven, requiring every other weekend
- No on-call requirements, but holiday coverage required as needed
- Floating required to other ICU units, with travelers floated first
Requirements
- Active RN license (AR or Compact) currently in hand
- BLS certification required; ACLS and TNCC may be required based on unit needs
- 2-5 years of clinical experience in pediatric intermediate/critical care required
- Prior PICU experience required due to floating responsibilities
- Recent Epic EMR experience required
- At least one previous travel assignment required
- Must test negative for nicotine
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients with complex diagnoses including respiratory distress, DKA, chronic ventilator dependence, and tracheostomies
- Work within a Level 1 trauma, teaching hospital setting
- Collaborate with Child Life & Education specialists who evaluate patients for educational needs during prolonged hospitalization
- Facility dress code must be followed as outlined in compliance documentation
- RNs should expect 2-3 days of orientation and specialty testing upon arrival
- Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius for local rate eligibility
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
