Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ED RN for a 13-week night shift travel contract in Maine, requiring a Maine or compact RN license and at least 1 year of experience.

- Emergency Department (ED) nursing position in a hospital setting
- Night shift schedule: 7p-7a
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Maine or compact RN license required
- BSN preferred
- Minimum 1 year of ED nursing experience required
- Current, unexpired BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Ability to problem solve with strong critical thinking skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Nursing assessment skills across all age groups required
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, reach, and lift up to 30 lbs
- Must have visual and hearing acuity sufficient to assess patients
- DOB and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Performs initial and ongoing age-appropriate nursing assessments, develops and implements individualized plans of care, and executes nursing interventions to meet patient goals
- Administers medications using the five rights protocol via med verify and evaluates patient response
- Documents patient care activities per established hospital standards and policies
- Provides patient and family education and completes discharge planning, including follow-up calls post-discharge
- Participates in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and bedside rounding with hospitalists and case managers
- Actively participates in hospital-wide Quality Improvement programs and supports department-specific initiatives
- Expected to participate in emergency and disaster preparedness planning and drills, and to respond within professional and personal capacity during real-life events
- Traveler reports to Human Resources on Day 1 for onboarding
- Required immunizations: Varicella (2 doses or titer), Hep B (3 doses, titer, or signed declination), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, and 2-step PPD or titer within the past 12 months; flu shot required during flu season
- No COVID-19 vaccination requirement
