Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ED RN for a 13-week night shift travel contract in Maine, requiring a Maine or compact RN license and at least 1 year of experience.

• Emergency Department (ED) nursing position in a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule: 7p-7a
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active Maine or compact RN license required
• BSN preferred
• Minimum 1 year of ED nursing experience required
• Current, unexpired BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Ability to problem solve with strong critical thinking skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Nursing assessment skills across all age groups required
• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, reach, and lift up to 30 lbs
• Must have visual and hearing acuity sufficient to assess patients
• DOB and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Performs initial and ongoing age-appropriate nursing assessments, develops and implements individualized plans of care, and executes nursing interventions to meet patient goals
• Administers medications using the five rights protocol via med verify and evaluates patient response
• Documents patient care activities per established hospital standards and policies
• Provides patient and family education and completes discharge planning, including follow-up calls post-discharge
• Participates in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and bedside rounding with hospitalists and case managers
• Actively participates in hospital-wide Quality Improvement programs and supports department-specific initiatives
• Expected to participate in emergency and disaster preparedness planning and drills, and to respond within professional and personal capacity during real-life events
• Traveler reports to Human Resources on Day 1 for onboarding
• Required immunizations: Varicella (2 doses or titer), Hep B (3 doses, titer, or signed declination), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, and 2-step PPD or titer within the past 12 months; flu shot required during flu season
• No COVID-19 vaccination requirement
