Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of OR experience and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
- 13-week assignment in the Operating Room of a Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital with 228 staffed beds
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:30 AM–7:00 PM)
- OR setting with 9 rooms
- On-call is required: 2 night calls and 3 weekend calls per month; weeknight call runs 11 PM–7 AM, weekend call shifts are 7 AM–3 PM, 3–11 PM, or 11 PM–7 AM
- Floating is required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- Charting system: SIS (Surgical Information Systems)
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
Requirements
- Active RN license for Washington, DC required
- Current BLS certification required; CNOR and CST certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience in the majority of the following surgical specialties required: neurology (craniotomy, spinal fusions, laminectomy/discectomy, kyphoplasty), general surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, Whipple, thyroidectomy, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures), orthopedics (arthroscopy, total joint replacement), ophthalmology (cataract extraction, glaucoma surgery, eye trauma), and robotic surgery (colorectal, GI, gynecologic, neurological, orthopedic, otolaryngologic, TORS, urologic)
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Valid driver's license and SSN card (PDF copies) required for consideration
- 2 supervisor references required for consideration

- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have been away for at least 1 year to be eligible
- The facility is accessible via public transportation — nearest Metro stop is Shaw/Howard University on the Green and Yellow lines; multiple bus routes also serve the area
- Parking is available on-site at the candidate's own expense ($3.50/day, $17.25/week, or $69/month), with street meter parking and visitor lots also nearby
