Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a Neuro unit night shift position requiring an active TX or compact RN license and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
- Work on a 19-private-room Med/Surg unit specializing in neurology and neurosurgical patients
- Care for a patient population ranging from young adults to geriatric patients
- Unit equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or Neuro nursing experience required
- Current BLS certification required; NIHSS certification preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral/PICC line management
- Experience with chest tube management, oxygen administration, and cardiac monitoring/dysrhythmia interpretation
- Experience caring for neurological conditions such as CVA, TBI, and pre/post neurosurgery patients
Additional Information
- Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not eligible for this position
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Former staff members must wait at least one year before returning as a traveler
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved prior to consideration, with no more than 3 days automatically approved and none during the first week of orientation
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
- Provide medical-surgical and neurological nursing care including isolation precautions and IV insulin protocol management
- Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for patient emergencies
