Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Level III/IV NICU experience for a night shift travel contract, requiring Epic proficiency and a Washington state license in hand.

Details

  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
  • NICU unit within a regional medical center
  • Neonatal patient population with Level III/IV acuity
  • Patient ratios determined by campus acuity
  • Internal floating between departments is required; flexibility is essential
  • Every other weekend required per collective bargaining agreement (CBA)
  • On-call is not required
  • Block schedules are not required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Variable shift scheduling for the unit; the manager makes efforts to maintain a consistent schedule during the contract

Requirements

  • Current RRT credential required; CRT may be considered
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required, specifically in a Level III or IV unit
  • Washington (WA) state license required and must be in hand at time of consideration; compact license accepted if in hand — license required if applicable
  • Competency with nitric oxide (iNO), high-frequency jet ventilation, and oscillating ventilation required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS (PALS or ENPC accepted)
  • Experience with neonatal procedures including direct intubation, bubble CPAP, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, umbilical blood gases, and pressure/volume ventilators
  • Experience drawing and interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs)
  • Proficiency in airway management, tracheostomy care, pulmonary hygiene, and ventilator management including weaning
  • Nitric oxide (iNO) medication administration experience
  • 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position

Additional Information

  • Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • All travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment
  • Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility (permanent, travel, or per-diem), including location and dates
  • Holiday coverage is required — candidates must commit to working 3 of the following 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
  • All RTO and specific scheduling requests must be submitted up front; post-offer RTO may not be granted, and excessive inflexibility may result in contract termination
  • Preferred skills include: high-frequency jet ventilator and oscillator management, oscillating ventilator use, direct neonatal intubation, umbilical blood gases, spirometry, and Emergency Department experience
  • Care experience with ARDS, cystic fibrosis, aspiration, pneumonia, COVID, fresh tracheostomy, and bronchoscopy is valued
