Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a PCU/IMC position requiring prior ICU experience, at least one completed travel assignment, and Cerner proficiency.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Intermediate Care (IMC) setting within a hospital environment
- Patient population includes cardiac, telemetry, neurological (CVA), gastrointestinal, and renal patients
- Traveler will float to Med/Surg and ED units as needed
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required — 6 weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) per 6-week period
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Cardiac monitoring responsibilities include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring on the unit
Requirements
- Active RN license — MD license or Compact license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience
- ICU experience required
- At least 1 completed travel assignment required — first-time travelers will not be considered
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and 100% on lethal rhythms
- Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience within the past 3 years
- Driver's license required for candidates determining local eligibility
- Key skills include IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, ventilator and tracheostomy care, BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, heparin protocols, and cardiac drip management (no titration)
Additional Information
- Nurses with previous MedStar employment must have been separated for a minimum of one year before being considered
- Local candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are accepted — candidate's address must match their driver's license for local status determination
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; no more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
- All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration and cannot be changed once the profile is under review
- Manager interviews are not guaranteed — candidates must be comfortable proceeding without one
- Facility-specific compliance modules must be completed within one week of signing the contract
- Labs and DS appointment must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
