Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a MS/Tele Float Pool position requiring a minimum of 3 years of RN experience, active CA licensure, and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Hospital-based MS/Tele Float Pool unit with an average census of 36 beds
- Patient population spans adolescents through geriatrics
- Respiratory/Oncology Med-Surg unit treating chemotherapy and chronic ventilator patients alongside general Med-Surg cases
- Telemetry setting that also receives general medical-surgical patients and moderate volume orthopedic surgical cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
- Every other weekend coverage required
- No on-call requirement
- May be required to float
- Epic EMR — experience required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active California RN license required
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required, with at least 2 years in Telemetry and Med-Surg
- California clinical experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Onsite EKG competency exam required (advanced EKG); minimum passing score of 80% — only two attempts permitted
- Relias EKG assessment required prior to start
- Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
- Total joint orthopedic experience required
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Rapid Response Team protocols
- Cardiovascular skills required: post cardiac angiogram, post-MI care, pre/post cardiac cath, and pre/post cardiac surgery
- IV therapy skills required: blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
- Medication management skills required: heparin protocols, cardiac drips (no titration), and vasoactive drips (no titration)
- Respiratory/thoracic skills required: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen face masks, and tracheostomy management
- Oncology skills required: administration and monitoring of chemotherapy
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

- Royal blue scrubs required
- Smoke/nicotine-free facility — candidates must arrive free of tobacco odor
- Required specialty modules must be completed prior to start date
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; all RTO requests must be submitted upfront and cannot be modified after submission (cancellations only)
