Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an LTAC Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 1 year of experience, with nights and on-call obligations including holiday coverage.
Details
- Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- On-call requirement: 2 on-call shifts or 2 additional shifts per 6-week period
- Weekends required on an as-needed basis
- Floating to a lower level of care within the traveler's skillset is expected based on critical staffing needs
- Epic EMR experience preferred but not required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active SC or Compact RN license required prior to start date; pending license will be considered
- Current certifications required: BLS and NIHSS; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; 2 years preferred, with LTAC or short-term acute care experience preferred
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
- Respiratory/thoracic skills including ventilator management (CV, CMV, A/C, SIMV, PS, PC, IRV +/- PEEP), vent weaning, and vent training for home
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must pass a Cardiac Dysrhythmia Test on the first day of orientation; only one attempt is allowed
- Block scheduling is not available
- Holiday coverage is required as part of on-call obligations
- All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed upfront; RTO requested after initial submission will not be considered
- Former permanent staff of SRHS facilities are not eligible to return as travelers
- An attendance policy is in effect: missing more than two shifts during the 13-week contract without reasonable explanation may result in contract review for cancellation
- Shaving may be required to pass an onsite respirator fit test
- Previous charge nurse experience is preferred
