Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float pool position at a Level 2 Trauma, academic teaching hospital in Rome, GA, requiring a GA or compact RN license and PCU specialty experience.
Details
- Float pool position covering all Med/Surg and Critical Care areas, including ED boarders, ICU, and ER as needed
- Level 2 Trauma Designation academic teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center (361 licensed beds)
- PCU (High Acuity Unit) patient ratio is 1:3
- Common PCU diagnoses include chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, CHF, stroke, seizures, ACS, sepsis, acute respiratory failure, and post-cardiac angiography care
- Specialized equipment in use includes cardiac monitors, Glucommander, BiPap, ventilators, Alaris pumps, and Precision BBG monitors
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- On-call may be requested when census is low, though this is rare
- 70% of assigned holidays must be worked
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI (CPI may be provided by facility if not currently held)
- Minimum 2 years of PCU or relevant specialty experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- PCU skills required: arrhythmia monitoring and knowledge of cardiac titratable drips
- At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year
- Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
Additional Information
- Orientation consists of one week of new employee orientation (Mon–Fri, 8am–4:30pm), followed by 2–3 days of departmental orientation on the floor
- Department support includes CNAs/nurse techs, respiratory therapists, phlebotomists, safety sitters, virtual patient observers (VPO), a virtual RN (currently on 4 West), and security
- Navy scrubs are required; free parking is available on-site
- Department culture emphasizes teamwork, mutual support, timely response to call lights, and prompt attention to telemetry alerts
- First-time travelers will be considered, though experienced travelers are preferred
- Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius rule — the same rate applies to local travelers at GA facilities
